About the Association The New Boston Blues Association began in 2002 with the goal of raising money for local charities that benefit children. Fund-raising activities focus on blues music, featuring local musicians whenever possible. The New Boston Blues Association is pending approval for non-profit status. All activities of the Association are currently focused on raising money for The Webster House, a specialized residential facility for adolescents from New Hampshire who need to live away from home in a supportive environment. Learn more about The Webster House. The New Boston Blues Association was founded by Barry Smith in New Boston, New Hampshire. Barry was the victim of an automobile accident when he was a child and sustained injuries that served as a lifetime reminder of the special needs of children. As a fan of blues music, Barry made friends with local musicians and found that many of them shared his concern for helping others. Drawing on his passion for helping children get quality care, Barry enlisted the help of local musicians to raise money for this cause, and the New Boston Blues Association was started. A number of great blues musicians have responded with heartfelt generosity, enabling the Association to grow, including Jerry "The Reverend" Paquette, "Mississippi Skippy" Philbrick, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson, and the late, great KD Bell. Many others have shared their time and energy, on stage, back stage, and behind the scenes. We thank you, and you know who you are. |
